This Hand Crafted, Vintage, Wooden Scratch Box Friction Turkey Call W/ Wooden Striker was made by a local craftsman from Dover, PA Robert Emig (1923 – 2012).
I am a hunter, but not a Turkey hunter, I tested with a few call techniques that I was shown by another hunter who does hunt turkey and it sounds good to me for various types of calls such as clucks and yelps. As any hunter that uses calls knows that every, handmade call has a unique sound to it!
This call is signed by his hand engraving on the front by the maker, Robert Emig and 1997-1. This one has a really unique design to it! I purchased these directly from an auction where his family was selling off what looked to be calls he was making but never had a chance to sell. Some still had his price stickers on them. The striker itself is sturdy and ready for use! Just use regular chalk on the striker as a rosin of sorts. This call and all the other calls we will be listing for sale from this lot appears to be only tested but unused in the field so lots of life and many years of use in it!! These are a popular style call as they are pocket sized and work well! This would make a great gift or addition to any collection or Hunting tool kit!
Mr. Robert Emig was born on November 22, 1923 and was the son of the late Robert P. and Mary (Krout) Emig. Mr. Emig unfortunately passed away on August 25, 2012 at the age of 88. He was the husband of Betty J. (Ross) Emig for 65 years.
Robert Emig was a young man who proudly served in the US Navy for six years during & after WWII as well as 2 additional years of the Korean War. When he came home from the military he started his career in building construction, technology, & maintenance. He later retired in 1985 after being the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds from the Dover Area School District. Mr. Emig spent the rest of his retired years doing things he loved the most; hunting, fishing, gardening, & making these absolutely beautiful turkey calls!
We are proud to be able to bring to market these pieces of functional art, hand crafted and signed (stamped) by the late Robert Emig. These can be used today as they have been for hundreds of years. The wood grains & finishes are a stunning addition to any collection or hunting tool kit! It is thought that these types of calls can date back as far as the late 1700’s to early 1800’s!!

    About Us
We are a family who loves history and treasure hunting!! Our business is a small one run from our house which is smoke free and pet free in the area where items are stored and listed. It is just Myself, My Wife, and our 18 year old daughter who also loves History and Picking. Before we list any item we give it a good once over to check for damage as well as research the item as best as we can to bring you the most information we can give you. We are not experts in anything but have a love for learning all. We work very very hard to keep our customers happy and coming back. If there are any issues all we ask is that you do not open a claim or leave negative feedback, contact us first and give us a chance to make it right for you, then if you are still not satisfied, do what you must (rarely happens but we are human). We pick several times a week so we are always listing new finds so check back often and save us in your favorite sellers. We also love to check out and buy estates, collections, ect. so if you are in the area or close to us, and you fall into this category, please let us know and we will contact you. I am a teacher who teaches technical theatre and my wife helps me run the antiques and collectibles side of things. We try to teach our daughter about honesty, integrity, and responsibility and this is one way we do that so every transaction with us in an honest one! This is what we do and this is what we love. Please feel free to email us and ask us any questions you may have :)
